Ford Motor Company CHLI Leadership Program (Summer Opportunity)

In the summer of 2004, Ford Motor Company and the Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute welcomed its first class of interns to this highly promising leadership program. As a commitment to advancing the next generation of Hispanic and Portuguese American leaders, Ford Motor Company and CHLI combined forces to create this innovative program as a means to provide leadership training and mentoring opportunities to a group of promising students. College students, representative of the rich diversity found within our nation’s largest minority community, take part in an intensive six-week internship program in Washington, DC. This program consists of professional leadership development workshops, exposure to key federal departments and agencies, national advocacy groups, think tanks, as well as important diplomatic and international organizations. Interns are placed in congressional offices and meet regularly with key Hispanic and Portuguese Americans appointed and elected officials from across the United States.

Eight undergraduate university students will be selected to participate in the 2009 Ford Motor Company CHLI Leadership program. Participants will travel to Washington, D.C. to take part in a six-week internship program consisting of professional leadership development workshops while learning about local and state government, federal government, national advocacy organizations and policy development. Interns will have the opportunity to interact with appointed and elected officials, as well as other community members and leaders from across the country.

Program Dates:
June 15, 2009 - July 24, 2009

Compensation:
• Air fare and housing accommodations during Washington, D.C. stay
• $2,000 stipend
• Metro card
