Beyond the Classroom: Coordinated Learning Experiences
Have you had a speaker come into your classroom, or have you visited a worksite as part of your Ford PAS coursework? Have you taken advantage of an internship opportunity at a business in your community? If so, you must have realized that Ford PAS isn’t just about learning in the classroom—the program also takes you out of the classroom through Coordinated Learning Experiences (CLEs), which can include any of the following:
- College/university site visits
- Internships
- Job shadowing
- Mentoring
- Classroom speakers and visits from experts in a variety of fields
- Worksite tours
So, what does a CLE look like? Here are stories about Ford PAS students’ CLEs in Michigan and Texas.
Frank Cody High School has a partnership with Ford Motor Company’s Purchasing Department. Through this partnership, Ford PAS students are able to apply for paid summer internship positions within the Purchasing Department. At the end of their internships, students share their summer work experience with department staff and invited guests.
