The Importance of Collecting Student Work
The Ford PAS Technical Assistance (TA) Group collects student work samples for the benefit of the entire Ford PAS community. These work samples help the program do the following:
- Celebrate Students: As one way to recognize students and their accomplishments, the Ford PAS
TA Group posts student work samples on the Web site. Work samples are also displayed at the annual
Ford PAS National Networking Conference. Students who make submissions are eligible to win prizes and
may be selected to attend this conference (see below for more details). - Build the Ford PAS Community: By sharing with and learning from one another, we are building a
community of practice, and we are better able to support one another in reaching our common goal of
improving student achievement. This includes giving students the opportunity to access and see work that
other students have produced. - Apply Lessons Learned to Support Ford PAS Sites: Student work samples provide insight
into the program’s impact on student learning and make it possible to offer professional development
opportunities to expand on teachers’ understanding of student thinking and to learn about assessing
student work. - Promote the Adoption of the Ford PAS Curriculum: By displaying examples of student
work, the Ford PAS TA Group and Ford PAS partners are better able to describe the program to others
who may be interested in implementing the curriculum.
What to Submit
- Any work that students developed in a Ford PAS class (e.g., reports, posters, student journal entries, timelines, flow charts, PowerPoint® presentations, presentation displays, AutoCAD® drawings)
- Photographs depicting Ford PAS activities (e.g., field trips, guest speaker visits, action shots of student
presentations or working in teams) - Completed assessments or tests
- Work in progress (e.g., if you are submitting student reports, include their outlines and drafts—or their
work from any part of the process—along with the final versions)
Submissions can include a range of examples of a student’s work, not just the “best.” You may even consider
submitting all of a student’s work from a particular project or assignment. All submissions should correspond to
specific assignments in the Ford PAS modules.
What to Include with the Student Work
TIP: Plan ahead and have students complete consent forms at the beginning of the semester.
Each student submission should include the following forms to qualify for the prizes:
- Guidelines for Submitting Ford PAS Work

- Student Work Submission Form
*Right-click and "Save Target As..." to save to your computer. Then edit and save for each different submission. - Student Consent Form
or Adult Consent Form
All prizes will be sent to the teacher via e-mail. The teacher then forwards or distributes the electronic gift certificates. In order to receive students’ prizes, teachers must log in and update their Ford PAS profiles, including e-mail address. If a winner or the teacher of a winner does not have an updated Ford PAS account, the prize will be forfeited.
How to Submit Student Work by Email–Electronic Submissions Accepted Only!
Any student work or student work forms received by mail will not qualify for the drawing. Please assist students with the following:- Scan the consent form(s) or fax them to (313) 594-7001.
- E-mail their work, submission form, and consent form(s) to info@fordpas.org. (If students would like to share a poster, they may take a photo of it and send it electronically.)
Prizes and Deadlines
Ford PAS students and teachers who submit student work and meet submission requirements will be entered
