ACTIVITY 1: What's the Message?
SESSION 1
Before You Teach

- Preview the video of the television commercial and the Media Log assignment.
- Consider how to assign each student to one of four forms of media (television, magazine, newspaper, and Web) for the ongoing Media Log assignment. One-quarter of the class should follow each form of media, so that for Activity 6 there will be teams of four, each member specializing in a different form of media.
TV COMMERCIAL MESSAGES
You may want to have students view television commercials on the Internet so that students can compare the messages, intended audiences, and use of persuasive techniques.
